On August 22nd until September 22nd 2025, the Sun steps into the sign of Virgo, and the tale of the maiden returns to us, carrying a lantern through the ripening fields of late summer.

The roots of this archetype stretch back to the old Greek myth of Astraea, the star-maiden. She was said to be the last of the Immortals to walk among humankind in the age when Gods and mortals still shared the Earth. Astraea was the Goddess of innocence, justice, and purity. When discord and greed spread through humanity, one by one the Gods withdrew to Olympus, leaving the world to its quarrels. But Astraea lingered. She remained as long as she could, guiding, tending, and reminding humankind of its capacity for harmony. When even she could no longer endure the strife, she rose into the heavens and became the constellation Virgo, a light to remind us of the order and care that had once bound the world together.

Beneath the golden rays, Astraea, Virgo's Goddess, prays in grace amidst the sun's gentle touch.

It is this story that echoes through the season of Virgo. The maiden is not only a gatherer of harvest, but a guardian of balance and discernment. She carries the memory of a time when justice was woven into daily life, when devotion to care was a sacred act. Virgo’s gift is not the loud proclamation but the quiet devotion that heals through presence.

When the Sun rests in Virgo’s sign, we are invited to walk in Astraea’s footsteps. It is a time to notice the small and necessary labors that keep life whole: the tending of hearth and body, the weaving of words with intention, the acts of service that anchor us in community. Virgo whispers that divinity lives in details, that devotion is found in the act of refining, and that to care for the ordinary is to honor the eternal.

This season does not demand perfection, but it does invite discernment. What needs mending in your field of life? What requires your careful eye, your humble patience? The maiden does not rush. She knows that what is refined with care becomes luminous, and what is tended with love grows strong.

As the Sun journeys through Virgo, we are reminded of Astraea’s lantern, still shining above us in the night sky, guiding us toward a quieter kind of strength, one that is born of devotion, clarity, and the grace of attention.

Much love to all, Valentina.
