A Homecoming to the Womb: Super Full Moon in Cancer.

Today, January 3rd, 2026, the sky opens with the first Super Full Moon of the year, rising
in Cancer, the sign the Moon calls home. A Super Moon occurs when the Moon is closest
to Earth, amplifying her presence and her pull. Emotions feel nearer, memory feels louder,
and the heart speaks in a language that cannot be ignored.
The Moon in Cancer is the great mother, the keeper of the hearth, the place where feeling precedes words. In her home sign, the Moon moves with instinct and tenderness. This Full Moon illuminates themes of belonging, safety, ancestry, and emotional truth. It asks us to listen not with the mind, but with the body, to notice what feels nourishing and what no longer feels like home.

What makes this lunation especially potent is its conjunction with an exalted Jupiter retrograde
in Cancer. Jupiter magnifies whatever he touches, and in Cancer he expands compassion, emotional wisdom, and the longing to protect what matters most. Together, the Moon and
Jupiter create a field of generosity and emotional abundance, but also of excess if feelings are
not held with care. This is a moment where gratitude, forgiveness, and emotional honesty can grow quickly when we choose softness over defense.
At the same time, this Cancer Full Moon stands in direct opposition to a powerful Capricorn Stellium. The Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars are all gathered in Capricorn, forming a strong
axis between home and duty, feeling and structure, care and responsibility. This opposition highlights a central question of the moment, how do we build a life that supports both our ambitions and our emotional needs.
Capricorn asks for commitment, discipline, and long term vision. Cancer asks for rest, presence, and emotional safety. With so many planets in Capricorn facing the Moon and Jupiter in Cancer, the tension is not meant to break us, but to mature us. This Full Moon invites balance, where
goals are built from a place of care, and care is protected through clear boundaries and conscious structure.
Full Moons mark moments of completion, revelation, and release, bringing cycles to their natural peak so something new can begin. In Cancer, this completion is deeply emotional, asking us to acknowledge what has been felt but perhaps not fully honored. With Jupiter magnifying the Moon’s voice, truths around belonging, family, and inner safety rise to the surface, while the opposition to the Capricorn Stellium highlights what must be balanced or released between duty and care, ambition and rest, so that what continues forward is nourished rather than depleted.
This lunation reminds us that strength without tenderness becomes brittle, and tenderness without structure becomes overwhelming. The medicine of this Moon is integration, allowing
both sides of the axis to inform one another, so that what we build in the world is aligned with what we need at home, within ourselves.
This Super Full Moon offers a moment to pause, to feel, to nourish what is real, and to release emotional patterns that no longer serve the future you are actively constructing.
May we choose homes that feel safe within us, and structures that honor our sensitivity.
Give yourself permission to let care and courage walk together, shaping a future rooted in
both love and purpose.
